Dear Westwood Residents and Community Group Representatives, The Town of Westwood is in the process of updating its Open Space & Recreation Plan (OSRP). Westwood's current OSRP was developed in 1999 and adopted in 2000. Periodic updates to the plan are required to maintain eligibility for state and federal grant programs. As part of the process, all residents are invited to attend a public Open Space & Recreation Visioning Session on Thursday, February 1st at the Thurston Middle School Cafeteria, beginning at 7:00 pm. Gino Carlucci of PSC Associates and Jennifer Goldson of JM Goldson will facilitate the Visioning Session. Together they will: * Explain the OSRP Update Process; * Present updated demographic data and information; * Review an inventory of open space and recreation facilities; * Discuss current and proposed recreation programs; * Solicit comments and suggestions from participants; * Review the results of the public opinion survey; and * Compile a list of possible goals, objectives, and priorities for the OSRP Update. The consultants and staff will then work together to draft narrative portions of the OSRP Update for review by the OSRPC members at a subsequent public working meeting. Additional public working meetings of the OSRPC will be scheduled, as necessary, to continue discussion and refinement of the draft OSRP Update.
